About Jacob Gershoni
Jacob Gershoni, LCSW, CGP, TEP is a psychotherapist in private practice at the Sociometric Institute in New York City. He is a certified group psychotherapist, and also is a Trainer, Educator and Practitioner (TEP), the highest certification granted by the American Board of Examiners in Psychodrama, Sociometry and Group Psychotherapy. Jacob is a co-director of the Psychodrama Training Institute, a division of the Sociometric Institute. Formerly a staff member of Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center, he is a fellow of the American Society of Group psychotherapy and Psychodrama (ASGPP) and served on its executive council. He works with individuals, couples and groups and also offers training classes for group therapists and others interested in Action Methods in psychotherapy and staff development.
Jacob graduated from the Hebrew University in Jerusalem (1971), and the University of Michigan (1975). His post-graduate training has been in Family Therapy and Psychodrama. Since 1980, he has maintained an active affiliation with two counseling services for the Gay, Lesbian, Bi-sexual and Transgender community in New York City: Identity House and the Institute for Human Identity. His employment history includes work at the Fred Finch Youth Center in Oakland, California (1976-1977), and Queens Child Guidance Center (1979-1990).
