Action methods, created during the early decades of the twentieth century by J. L. Moreno, MD, and developed by many of his students, have had thorough and widespread –albeit insufficiently recognized- impact on psychotherapy and professional training. Psychodrama is a method that emphasizes action, rather than mere talk, postulating that human beings learn through action and interaction. Backed by elaborate theories and existential philosophy, psychodrama uses many techniques aimed at deepening emotional expression, cognitive insights and behavioral change.
